Today's micro processor based AC drives offer features and benefits that allow inverters to be used in the most demanding of applications.  Fractional to horse powers exceeding 500 are now available.  With the robust feature offerings industry is continually finding new applications that in the past would have employed DC drives.  Soft starters have followed the same migration path.  Today with the need for more precise machine control and energy savings, soft starters are now being more widely integrated into complete control strategies.  This course will cover the basics in hardware and applications of drives and soft starters.
